Happy New Year: No Resolutions for 2016

on January 4, 2016

It’s the 4th day of January, and I have officially decided, after quite a bit of contemplation, to not have any resolutions for 2016.  By definition, a resolution is a firm decision to do or not to do anything.  The problem for me, this year, is that I am completely undecided on what I plan on doing.  Am I going to run?  Of course, I don’t need to have a resolution to do something that I love, enjoy, and already do!  Am I going to spend quality time with my husband and children?  Yup!  Are there some other aspects of my life that need some fine-tuning?  Definitely.  I just don’t know what that fine-tuning means quite yet!

2016 Happy New Year

I am setting goals for 2016 – goals for my professional, family, and running “life.”  As life had multiple surprises in store for me this past year, however, I am leaving myself a bit loose on that “firm decision” aspect of a resolution!

GOALS

  1.  Run.  Lots and Lots.  Participate in a few half marathons.  And a marathon.  Perhaps another 50k too.  Main goal for running in 2016?  Prevent injury to the best of my ability.  If I need to rest, rest.  Right away, not a month later when recovery is twice as long!
  2. Make lots of memories with my family through new experiences (and lighten up on new material goods.)
  3. I know what I want to be when I grow-up now.  Now I need to take the steps to make it really work.

What are your 2016 New Year’s goals or resolutions?
