Run Mom Run Happy

My thoughts on being a mom, runner, wannabe health nut, and everything else.

Summer Night Trail Marathon – My Experience and Review

The Summer Night Trail Marathon took place at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 6, 2015.  The event offered three different length options: quarter, half, and full marathon.  I ran the half marathon distance only because I do not yet qualify for the full’s time requirements.  Hopefully, by the end of the year, I will have a result that will allow me to enter the 26.2 mile option.

Indianapolis Spartan Sprint 2015 – Review and My Experience

The 2015 Indianapolis Spartan Sprint took play on May 16 in Laurel, Indiana.  This was my third time participating in this event, and it was also (to me) the most difficult!  Downpours the night before the Sprint created one of the muddiest courses I have ever had the pleasure to run on.  (I use the term “run” loosely here.)

Parking

Parking at the venue, Haspin Acres, is only available to those participants that purchase a VIP parking spot.  The majority of racers park at an off-site location and are bused in to the venue.  (While doing this is annoying, the first year I participated in the event parking at Haspin Acres was atrocious.  The one way in and one way out made the line and wait incredibly long and there were limited spots.  The transfer on the bus is a huge improvement.)  My GPS was taking me who-knows-where when we passed by the Spartan off-site location.  I was thankfully only charged $10 for my van (Spartan changed their parking prices this year.  I think it’s ridiculous, and I was grateful that I didn’t have to argue with anyone.  This attendant charged me the same price as cars despite driving a minivan!)  Buses were waiting to take racers, port-a-potties were available, and the transfer was quick and easy.

Registration / Bag Check

After signing my waiver and finding my bib number, I was lucky to be in a short line.  It only took a few minutes to receive my race packet.  Some of the lines were much longer though, and it took other participants 20+ minutes to make it through.  I slipped on my headband, put on my multiple wristbands, and headed to bag check.  Checking my bag cost $5, and it was super fast and easy.
