Run Mom Run Happy

My thoughts on being a mom, runner, wannabe health nut, and everything else.

2015 Ohio Spartan Beast Review and My Experience

I participated in the Ohio Spartan Beast on May 30, 2015 at The Wilds near Zanesville, Ohio.  According to a few GPS results of fellow racers, the course was roughly 13.4 miles.  Despite driving through strong thunderstorms on the way to and from the event, my time on the course was hot and dry!

The Ohio Spartan Beast was my second Spartan event of 2015.  Hopefully will have my Trifecta in August.  (Creating the Trifecta was a brilliant marketing move by Spartan.  Promoting conquering all three distances and giving runners an additional medal has probably really helped increase race numbers.  I know it has convinced me to do multiple runs a year!)

2015 Skirt Sports 13er – Want to sign up?

I do not usually sign up for Virtual Runs, but the Skirt Sports 13er half-marathon was one that I decided I couldn’t skip.

For one, I like the message Skirt Sports is sharing with their #REALwomenmove campaign.

“We are surrounded by messages of intimidation and exclusiveness in the world of fitness.  My #REALwomenmove goal is to stop the madness and show women that being fit is something we can all do, regardless of our size, shape, or activity level.” -CEO of Skirt Sports Nicole DeBoom

“Real is the new perfect, and it’s all about embracing fitness , health, and the reality of who we are.  #REALwomenmove is redefining what it means to be a strong, fit woman.” – Skirt Sports Ambassador Jenny Hadfield

Indy Mini Half-Marathon 2015 Review and My Experience

The Indy Mini is a huge half-marathon and 5k that takes place in Indianapolis, IN every year in May.  The run boasts 30,000+ participants.  The half-marathon, one of the biggest in the country, takes runners on the famed track of the Indy 500. The May 2, 2015 event was my second time participating in the Indy Mini.

EXPO

The Indy Mini Expo was held at the Indianapolis Convention Center.  There were lots of booths and lots of freebies.  (But not chapstick.  I forgot mine so I looked and looked, but no luck!)   Unfortunately there wasn’t anything that stood out as new or exciting.  Most of the booths were for products I had seen before.  One of the brochures I did grab was for Go Ape at Eagle Creek Park, which looks like a really fun time.  I also bought two Sweaty Bands.  (I do love my headbands!)  Packet pick-up was quick and easy, and I was really pleased with the shirt this year!

Responsibilities (and other annoying things about life) that get in the way of running!

It has again been way too long since I’ve blogged!  Although I haven’t been at my best (darn numbness issues,) I do have a few race reviews to get up and lots of other running-related issues on my mind.  There have been SO MANY non-running occurrences in life lately that I haven’t had an abundance of time left over, so when I’ve had any time, I’ve tried to utilize it for actually running (instead of writing about it!)

In no particular order, here are my list of annoying (and often times very, very important) aspects of life that get in the way of running:
